Der Greif, fotoğrafa odaklanan, pek çok ödül kazanmış bir çağdaş fotoğraf ve edebiyat projesidir. Yakın zamanda Lucie Foundation (NY) tarafından ‘2014 Yılın Fotoğraf Dergisi’ ödülüne layık görülmüş proje, basılı dergi, online platfrom, küratöryel ekip ve Dünya’nın bir çok yerinden fotoğrafçı ve yazarın buluştuğu ortak bir proje olarak varlığını sürdürmektedir. Projenin temeli, basılı ve reklamsız bir dergi çıkarmaya dayanmaktadır. Der Greif, yeni fotografik yaklaşımlar üretmek adına katılımcıları işbirliği ve takas yapmaya davet ediyor. Fotoğrafçının sadece kendi fotoğraflarıyla değil, başkalarının fotoğrafları üzerinde de çalışmasıyla kendi pratiğine katacak çok şeyi olduğuna inanıyor.
Atölye süreci ve ortaya çıkan işler Der Greif'ın websitesinde yayınlanacaktır.
* Atölyenin başlangıcında, Der Greif projenin temeli, gelişimi ve konseptiyle ilgili bir paylaşımda bulunacak. Atölyenin ilk gününde her katılımcının daha önceden ürettiği 3 fotoğraf serisini dijital olarak getirmesi beklenmektedir. (Bir seri içinde kaç fotoğraf olduğunun önemi bulunmamaktadır). Getirilen tüm fotoğraflar bu atölyenin temelini oluşturacak ve her katılımcının üzerinde çalışılacağı büyük bir arşiv oluşturulacak. Ardından iki kişilik küçük gruplar oluşturulacak ve grup tarafından tekil fotoğraflar seçilecek. Seçilen tekil fotoğraflar hem biçimsel hem içerik anlamında analiz edilecek ve üretildiği asıl bağlama sabit kalmaksızın yeni bir bağlam oluşturmak üzere yeniden ele alınacak. Bir sonraki adım ise bu fotoğrafların yeniden biraraya getirilmesidir. Yeni kombinasyonlardan yeni bağlamlar yaratılacak ve ortaya çıkan sonuçlar alışılagelmişin dışında anlatıların oluşması için zemin hazırlayacak. Atölye sürecinde ortaya çıkan işler ve deneyler sunulacak. Sunum biçimleri atölye sürecinde geliştirilecek ve buna katılımcıların kendisi karar verecek. Atölye sonunda baskı, online veya fiziksel sergi seçilebilir.
**Atölye dili ingilizcedir ancak ihtiyaç halinde Türkçe çeviri desteği verilecektir.

The artistic directors of DER GREIF, Leon Kirchlechner and Simon Karlstetter offer a 3 day workshop titled 'In Between Photographs' (15-16-17 May) for photography students and professionals at FiLBooks in Karaköy - Istanbul, due to open in May. The workshop provides a new approach to editing and presenting single photographic images in different contexts (both for publications and exhibitions), to sequencing them and to developping artistic approaches with photographic archives. The team of DER GREIF is looking for a dialogue in which both parties – participants and directors – receive new impulses.
DER GREIF (rhymes with »life«) is an award-winning project for contemporary photography and literature with focus on photography. Recently awarded »Photography Magazine of the Year 2014« by the Lucie Foundation in NY, DER GREIF is print-publication, online-platform, curatorial team and joint project for and with photographers and authors from all over the world. The artistic core and root of the project is the printed and ad-free magazine. It combines the works of photographers and authors of different origins in a holistic piece of art.

DER GREIF wants to encourage the participants to collaborate and exchange in order to create new approaches to working with photographic images. By working not only with their own images, but with the images of other photographers, the participants are able to develop a different view onto their own work.
Parts of the workshop-process and the resulting works will be featured in a post on Der Greif's website.
* At the beginning of the workshop, DER GREIF shares insights into the project and its history, development and concept. As starting point, every workshop-participant brings 3 series of photographs in digital form (no limit to the amount of images within one series). The images of ALL participants are the basis for the workshop and form one big archive for the every partcipant to work with. After building small groups of two people, the participants select single images from this archive. These single images are then analised – both formally and content-wise – despite their original context in order to already building a new approach towards them. As a next step, the participants start to combine these single images. Coherent, new combinations evolve from this process. These combinations build the basis for new works that don’t necessarily show a classical narrative structure. At the end of the workshop, resulting works and experiments are presented. The form of presentation is up to the participants and will be developped throughout the workshop. Depending on the facilities, a print-, online- and/or physical exhibition format can be chosen. A tumblr-blog will be used to document the entire workshop-process and to present the resulting works.
